  4. Clean hobs and grills regularly to prevent a build-up of fat which can catch fire
  5. Drinking alcohol and cooking is a recipe for disaster

  4. Don't forget to continue testing fire safety systems such as: Fire Alarms and Emergency Lighting Systems
  5. Increase the collection of waste packaging from outside the premises and secure bins away from the building. This reduces the risk from Fire Setting and anti-social behaviour

Day 7

False Alarm Reduction — “Taking us away from a real fire”

  1. The premises fire alarm and detection system should be maintained in an efficient state, effective working order and in good repair — regular testing and servicing should be carried out
  2. Preventative measures can be taken to ensure continued reliability, such as appropriate detector heads and located away from sources of steam and dust etc
  3. False alarms cause disruption to your business, resulting in substantial costs, loss of productivity and inconvenience
  4. They erode confidence in the value and reliability of the system
  5. False alarms expose our communities to unnecessary risk as attendances for a real fire may become delayed
