At 21;50 on Thursday, 26 March, 2015, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Kitchen Fire in Shrewsbury.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Shrewsbury.

Domestic Smoke alarm operating which was caused by a small fire involving a grill pan. The fire was out on arrival of Fire Service and crews have now ventilated the property.

Smoke alarms cost as little as £5 and are available at most DIY stores. It is recommended that smoke alarms should be fitted on the ceiling one per floor and they should be 30cm away from walls or light fittings (Usually top and bottom of stairs). Smoke alarms should be tested weekly by pressing the button to briefly activate the alarm. Change the battery once a year (unless it's a ten year alarm) and gently vacuum the alarm twice a year to remove dust from the sensors.
