At 21:08 on Wednesday, 10 February, 2016, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Persons Reported Fire in Bridgnorth.

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Tweedale. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet
  • Small gear

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

Fire involving unattended cooking in first floor flat - forced entry made by Fire Service - all persons accounted for no causalities.

Most kitchen fires occur when people are distracted or leave things unattended.

  • Never use a toaster under a shelf or kitchen cupboard - pull it out from under the cupboard when in use.
  • Don't hang wet or damp tea towels on the cooker to dry.
  • Dirty grill pans and ovens cause fires. Help keep them clean.
  • When using a microwave read the cooking instructions carefully, ensure you don't put in any metal objects.
  • Kettles can cause serious burns from the steam, make sure you don't lean over the kettle when it'.s boiling.
