Letter from the President of the Rotary Club of Oswestry
I would like to thank you for the contribution made by your organisation to our LifeLine event in 2012. It is difficult to write something new about the event which followed the same format as in previous years. As before the Club played host to over 500 year-6 pupils from 26 primary school from the Oswestry area – covering parts of both Shropshire and Powys. The children had a great time and took part in ten scenarios designed to help them cope with the dangers that they will increasingly face as they progress to the secondary stage of their education. This was the sixth LifeLine event and the feedback from school and pupils has again been very positive indeed in each case.
In particular I wish to highlight the contribution made to the event by Charlie Cartwright and his team – not just in terms of presenting the “Fire” scenario, but also for their help in coordinating with their colleagues in Mid- and West-Wales Fire and Rescue Service and for the way in which they gel with the other presenters and the organisers of the event: an outstanding team effort!
The Club is just starting on the early stages of planning for the 2013 event and we are greatly looking forward to working with your organisation for an equally successful event next year.
