Letter from a Shrewsbury resident
I am writing to say a big “thank you” for the wonderful visit I had from two of your fire men last Saturday, November 3rd.
My smoke alarms had been “chirping” and I was very worried, so, as they were fitted a few years ago by the Fire Service, I rang up and was soon arranged a visit. Soon all my worries were resolved as my old alarms were removed and new ones fixed, plus some good advice.
I am 91 years old and recovering from a broken hip and wrist and last week twisted my knee so can’t do most of the tasks I take for granted, so your kind men took pity on me and sorted out my central heating which I could not work, turned on my gas fire plus more good advice and even drew a little diagram to make it easy for me to understand.
Then they fixed the light in a cabinet which wasn’t working, and to crown it all, amidst a lot of laughter, opened a tub of ice cream which had foiled me for days and had defied all my attempts to get the lid off.
I am so grateful for their kind help and sense of humour. You must have a wonderful team if all your men are like these.
My only regret is that I forgot to ask them their names. So I am hoping you will let them know how very grateful I am.
