The Fire Authority's Statement of Purpose ensures that Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service exist to:

Save and protect life, property and the environment from fire and other emergencies

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service currently:

  • provides a service to approximately 454,000 people in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin
  • maintains 4 wholetime stations and 19 retained stations
  • employs approximately 590 staff
  • responds to 5,200 (circa) incidents per year (figures for 2010/2011)
  • fits more than 5,724 smoke alarms per year (figures for 2010/11)
  • carries out upto 4,233 home visits per year (figures for 2010/11)
