Partnership working

The Brigade is committed to working with partners at local and national levels to meet the changing needs of the community.
The Training and Development Centre (T&DC) team are involved in the following partnerships:
Telford College of Arts and Technology
Partnership Aims
To enable Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and Telford College of Arts and Technology (TCAT) to benefit from an exchange of services.
This agreement will support Shropshire Strategic Aim 3 – in that we will secure the highest level of safety and welfare for all staff by providing effective supervision, training, and equipment along with safe systems of work.
TCAT will be able to promote the partnership in order to support their business strategy as appropriate within the local and national arena.
Partnership Objectives/Expectations
Through this partnership Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service will support the BTEC Public Uniformed Services course at TCAT by providing visiting lecturers and by allowing students to attend our Training Centre to experience the operational life of a firefighter.
TCAT will provide places (up to a maximum of two per course) for Training Centre staff on the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) Course.
The skills will be used by Training and Development Centre instructors to benefit Shropshire's operational personnel who attend the centre every year. This is a perfect example of how partnership working should function with each organisation reaping the benefits at no additional cost.

FP McCann Building Products and Hereford & Worcester Fire Service
Partnership Aims
To provide a training facility in order to enhance Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service’s (HWFRS) ability to respond to and effectively deal with incidents involving urban search and rescue, such as building and structural collapse.
This agreement will support Shropshire Strategic Aim 3 – in that we will secure the highest level of safety and welfare for all staff by providing effective supervision, training, and equipment along with safe systems of work.
FP McCann will be able to promote the partnership in order to support their business strategy as appropriate within the local and national arena.
Partnership Objectives/Expectations
Through this partnership SFRS will deliver enhanced training facilities in order to provide a two hour resilience/capability allowing them to deal with USAR type incidents falling with the Shropshire service area.
HWFRS will have an enhanced training venue in order to develop greater skills in the specialism of USAR and its associated equipment. HWFRS will support the training of Shropshire crews in the use of USAR equipment and rescue techniques.
FP McCann will utilise the partnership to publicise the organisations support of local and regional communities. They will control access to the site, ensuring their core business activities remain unaffected by the presence of fire service personnel.
