The Control room is like the nerve centre of Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.
|
|
|
It is the place where incoming emergency calls are answered and logged and the appropriate resources mobilised to the incidents.
The control room is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is achieved by four watches of four Fire Control Operators ( a minimum of 3 staff are on duty at all times).
The staff are divided into 4 watches:
Each watch will typically consist of:
- 1 x Senior Fire Control Operator
- 1 x Leading Fire Control Operator
- 2 x Control Operators
The Senior and Leading Control Operators are the mobilising officers and are in charge of their watches. The whole Fire Control department is managed by the Fire Control Officer, who works separately to the Control Room, within the Control Suite.
