To compare several aspects of community safety that occurs within Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and Lisbon Civil Protection.

Summary of objectives ^ Top

  • Strategic

    a) To compare each organisations strategic approach to securing community safety both business and residential communities (principally from fire) from a 'preventative' perspective, and, consider the potential for adopting best practice given the cultural, legislative and logistical differences between our organisations.

    b) To identify if and how Portugal works with partners to contribute to a wider community safety perspective (such as crime reduction, health and welfare).

  • Operational Business Fire Safety

    a) To study the systems and process employed to secure fire safety in the Business communities of Portugal including how the organisation discharges its legislative duties for fire safety enforcement.

    b) How Portugal address the problem of arson.

  • Operational 'Residential' Fire Safety

    a) To study the systems and process employed to secure fire safety in the Residential communities of Portugal.

    b) A particular focus on how Portugal secures the safety form fire of children and young people (A particular focus of one member of our team is identifying age range of children who receive formal and informal fire safety education from LCP. Comparing methods and material used to educate young people within Lisbon Portugal and Shropshire UK).
