Family Safety

Remember to keep your family safe ^ Top

Fit a smoke alarm

You are much more likely to die in a fire in your own home if you do not have a working smoke alarm

A smoke alarm can give you those precious few minutes of warning which could help you and your family to get out safely.

Smoke alarms are a safety device. Every home should have one, preferably one on each floor. Smoke alarms should be properly maintained.

  • Every week check the battery in your alarm by pressing the button to test
  • Change the battery every year (Unless fitted with a 10-year battery)
  • Vacuum inside of the alarm to ensure the dust is not blocking the sensors.

Remember - Make your home safe for children ^ Top

  • Never leave your children alone in the house
  • Keep all matches and lighters out of the reach of children
  • Never assume infants are incapable of lighting a match or lighter
