Chaplaincy

Reverend Peter Barnes, Brigade Chaplain

Reverend
Peter Barnes

Brigade Chaplain

Our Brigade Chaplain, Reverend Peter Barnes, joined us in February 2006.

Peter has a good understanding of the Fire Service as he spent 6 years as a Retained Duty Firefighter in Cumbria Fire Service.

The Chaplain's role is to provide pastoral and welfare support to staff, their families and retired members during times of need. Peter has been to say hello to many of our stations, watches and HQ teams and should anyone need support he is available to visit Brigade personnel, their families and retired members who may be in hospital or in times of crises at home, regardless of faith.

As Brigade Chaplain it is sometimes necessary for Peter to attend certain emergency incidents and provide support to personnel who may come face to face with situational dangers and distress, and where appropriate providing reassurance, prayer or pastoral support to casualties or others involved at the scene.

The Chaplain also leads the Brigade's Festival of Carols which takes place annually in December.
