Events

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service supports a number of regular local equality, diversity and community cohesion events each year. Among these are:

  • Holocaust Memorial Day, held nationally in January
  • Shrewsbury Action Against Racism’s annual Cultural Diversity Day, usually held in late spring or early summer in the Square, Shrewsbury
  • Shrewsbury’s annual ‘Rock Against Racism’ gig, again , usually held in late spring or early summer in different venues
  • The Telford Gay Pride event held in August each year
  • The Rainbow Festival, celebrating films with a lesbian, gay and bisexual theme, held in Shrewsbury each year
  • A range of events celebrating Black History Month in October each year

Projects

Shropshire Council Lesbian Gay Bisexual Network

We also take part in projects related to equality and diversity, including shared consultation and research projects and local Partnership initiatives.

Examples include a proposed multi-agency consultation with lesbian, gay and bisexual people living and working in Shropshire (more details later), and our joint work with Shropshire Council and Shropshire Primary Care Trust to consult with local communities over developing our Single Equality Schemes.
