Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service have a clear statement of purpose:
Save and protect life, property and the environment from fire and other emergencies
Our purpose is underpinned with four simple aims:
- To be there when you need us in an emergency with a professional and well equipped team
- To reduce the number of fires in our community
- To reduce the number of fire related deaths and serious injuries
- To deliver an effective fire and rescue service at a cost that is acceptable to our community

Addendum to the 6 March 2008 Strategy and Resources Committee, Paper 6a, Target Setting 2008/09 to 2010/11
Members then moved on to consider section 5 of the report and noted that, under resilience, the comments in brackets relating to the final indicator in Appendix 2 (on page 10) were incorrect. The comments should have read ‘if levels drop to 2, the Executive or Principal Officer would decide, on the basis of how busy Control was that day, whether an additional officer was required’.
