Sub Officer Trevor Williams, Officer in Charge of Clun Fire Station submits a report to Chief Fire Officer Ian Kerr highlighting the problems experienced by retained personnel in Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

CFO Kerr presented a report to Members of Shropshire and Wrekin Fire Authority outlining the recruitment and retention problems associated with the retained service in Shropshire. The report asked members to consider setting up a Retained Review Team comprising of Members, officers and retained personnel. Trevor's report was included as an appendix.

Opinion Research Services were employed to carry out a survey of all Shropshire's retained personnel.
298 questionnaires were sent out, 215 were returned giving a 72% response rate. Questionnaires were also sent out to partners of retained personnel asking for their feedback and concerns.
The position of Retained Project Manager was created.
