When you dial 999, the first person you speak to is the telephone company operator.
Give him/her your phone number or the number you are dialling from and ask for the Fire Service |

After a dialling tone, you will hear... |
|
"Fire Service" - You are now speaking to our main Fire Control centre. We will ask for the following information:
- What incident are you reporting?
- Where is it?
- What telephone number are you calling from?
You may also be asked to give any other relevant information such as postcodes, any landmarks, main roads or any other information you may feel will assist the Fire Service.

Remember to speak clearly and don't panic
The call is then processed using the latest technology. We locate the address, identify the nearest available fire engines and dispatch them to the incident in less than a minute.
