| Foam Pod |
a special appliance that carries all of the equipment and foam concentrate required to produce large amounts of foam. | Retained |
Retained stations are not permanently staffed, but the appliances on these stations are able to be mobilised within five minutes of a call. They are staffed by firefighters working on the retained duty system. They typically have full time jobs outside of the fire and rescue service and respond from either work or home to their fire station when an emergency call is received. There are twenty retained stations in Shropshire. Two of the wholetime stations, Shrewsbury and Wellington, also have retained personnel on them. |

a fire engine, the same as the Water Tender Ladder, with additional equipment for rescuing persons from road traffic accidents. Also has a tank that holds 1800 litres of water, and is capable of pumping between 2250 and 2700lpm. These appliances are normally crewed by 4 to 6 firefighters. |

a fire engine which has a pump and all of the equipment normally needed to fight fires and rescue people. Has a tank that holds 1800 litres of water, and is capable of pumping between 2250 and 2700lpm. These appliances are normally crewed by 4 to 6 firefighters. |

Wholetime stations are permanently staffed by firefighters who are able to mobilise to any emergency within one minute of a call. Each station has four watches that provide all year round cover. The three wholetime stations in Shropshire are Shrewsbury, Wellington and Telford Central. |
