A detailed and structured review of the Fire Authority's Strategic Aims and Corporate Objectives has identified a suite of essential Service Objectives necessary to secure performance improvement. Appendix B shows in detail the identified Service Objectives with their respective links to the Strategic Aims, Corporate Objectives and national Best Value Performance Indicators.

This Performance Plan has been strategically aligned to the priorities and targets set by central government. ² Utilising a complex and dynamic system of prioritisation, the objectives have been assessed and categorised into three areas of priority - Gold, Silver and Bronze. A key objective of the 2005/06 Performance Plan will be the commencement, and where applicable within the current planning year, the delivery of not less than:

The process of prioritisation is dynamic enabling service objectives to be regularly reviewed to take account of changing circumstances in the community and environment.
