The three emergency services frequently work together at Road Traffic Collisions (RTC) |
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service have for many years worked alongside the Ambulance Service who are contracted to deliver First Aid training to its' drivers, ensuring there is always an appropriately trained member of the team travelling to all incidents.
The Ambulance Service has also provided training to all operational staff in the handling of casualties at the scene of an incident. We continue to work closely with the Ambulance Service by supporting the training of their new technicians. This is achieved by holding regular Road Traffic Collision (RTC) familiarisation exercises at the Centre in Telford. More recently introduced has been the Vehicle Crime Course which is delivered by Training Instructors, supported by the Ambulance Service, which aims to educate juveniles who have been convicted of vehicle related crime.
During the past 4 years, West Mercia Police have supported our emergency fire appliance driver programme by delivering the emergency response aspect of the 3 day course to all of our drivers through their initial and refresher training.
