Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and Presentation Ceremony 2007
The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service annual Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Ceremony will be held at Shrewsbury Fire Station on Wednesday 21 March, 2007.
Medals will be presented to Fire Service personnel by the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, A E Heber-Percy.

David Collinge David Collinge joined Shropshire
Fire and Rescue Service on 10 April 1986 as a Firefighter at Prees Fire Station, where he still serves. David represented Shropshire Fire Service on a Remembrance Day Parade in London. He lives in Prees with his wife Melita and has 2 children, Morgan 21 and Tom 19.

Anthony Cooke Anthony Cooke joined Shropshire
Fire and Rescue Service on 29 April 1986 as Firefighter at Much Wenlock Fire Station. On 1 January 2001, Tony transferred to Wellington retained and on 1 October 2002 was promoted to Leading Firefighter. Tony lives in Telford with his wife Bridget.

Mark Donnelly Mark Donnelly joined Shropshire
Fire and Rescue Service on 5 May 1986. He has served as a Firefighter on Red Watch, Telford Central and Shrewsbury, Leading Firefighter, Green Watch, Shrewsbury, and in the Fire Safety Department, Shrewsbury. He was then promoted to Sub Officer, Red Watch, Shrewsbury and in March 2006 was promoted to District Support Officer at Telford where he still serves. Mark lives in Shrewsbury, with his wife Jo, and has 5 children, Jenna 22, Scott 20, Ross 16, Jay 8 and Molly 5.

John Griffiths
John Griffiths joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 8 September 1986 as a Firefighter at Green Watch, Telford Central. He was promoted to Leading Firefighter on 1 October 1990 at Green Watch, Wellington. John was promoted to Sub Officer in the Fire Safety Department on 11 October 1993. He was then transferred in the same rank to White Watch, Wellington on 1 January 1998 and on 1 January 1999, transferred to Blue Watch, Shrewsbury. On 1 October 1999, John was promoted to Station Officer, Incident Command, where he currently serves. John lives in Shrewsbury with his wife Merel and has 2 children, Steven 19 and Robert 18.

Peter Neal Hawkins Peter Neal Hawkins joined
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 9 September 1985 as a Firefighter at White Watch, Telford Central. He was promoted to Leading Firefighter in 1992 on White Watch, Telford, transferred to White Watch, Shrewsbury in 1993 and then transferred to Blue Watch, Shrewsbury in 1994. Peter was temporarily promoted to Sub Officer in the Training Department in July 2002 and substantively promoted in the same Department in January 2003. In May 2006 he was transferred to White Watch, Telford Central, where he currently serves as Officer in Charge. He lives in Shrewsbury with his wife Nichola and has a son, Owen aged 4.

Alastair John Humphries
Alastair John Humphries joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 26 August 1986 as a Firefighter at Much Wenlock Fire Station. He was promoted to Leading Firefighter on 14 July 1998 and Sub Officer in Charge on 1 January 2001. In October 1995, as part of the Much Wenlock crew, they tackled a person who had run away from a road traffic collision who then threatened the crew with a knife. He was restrained by the crew until the police arrived. Alastair and the other crew members were awarded a commendation for their actions by West Mercia Police.
He is employed by E W Humphries, Electrical Contractors in Much Wenlock (family firm), who kindly allow him to respond to fire calls during working hours. Alastair lives in Much Wenlock with his partner Lea-anne who also served as a Firefighter at Much Wenlock for 11 years, and has a daughter Elle aged 4½ .

Steven George Jones
Steven George Jones joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 1 December 1986 as a Fire Control Operator. He was temporarily promoted to Leading Fire Control Operator on 2 occasions in 1992 and 1993/94, and then to Senior Fire Control Operator on 1 January 1996. On 21 November 2005, Steve was promoted to Fire Control Manager. He lives in Alberbury, with his wife, Diane and has a son Paul, aged 13.

Peter Morgan Peter Morgan joined Shropshire
Fire and Rescue Service on 8 September 1986 as a Firefighter at Minsterley Fire Station. He served at Minsterley until 31 December 2006 when he left to live abroad. Peter is married to Vicky and has 2 daughters, Claire and Jenny.

Graham Phillips
Graham Phillips joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 18 August 1986 as a Firefighter at Cleobury Mortimer Fire Station. He was promoted to Leading Firefighter on 1 April 1995 and Sub Officer in Charge on 1 November 2003. Graham is employed by Ralph Walker, Oil Pollution Control, who kindly allows him to respond to fire calls during working hours. His employer has a keen interest in the Fire Service and also employs two staff in Doncaster who are also Firefighters in Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Graham lives in Cleobury Mortimer with his wife Dawn and has 2 children, Naomi 24 and Autumn 22.

Kevin Phillips
Kevin Phillips joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 1 May 1986 as Firefighter at Baschurch Fire Station. He was promoted to Leading Firefighter on 1 August 2005. Kevin is employed by Mr Tim Gary at Dairi-pak in Ruyton XI Towns. Kevin lives in Baschurch with his wife Wendy.

Christopher Scott
Christopher Scott joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 1 October 1986 as a Firefighter at Minsterley Fire Station. He was promoted to Leading Firefighter on 1 October 2001. Chris is the local postman in Minsterley and his employer kindly allows him to attend fire calls whilst doing his rounds. Chris lives in Minsterley with his partner, Alison and has 2 children, Paul, who is also a Firefighter at Minsterley and a daughter.

Francis William John Staples Francis William John Staples joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 10 June 1986 as a Firefighter at Ellesmere Fire Station. He was promoted to Leading Firefighter in May 1991. Francis lives in Ellesmere with his wife Elaine and has two children, Sarah, 17 and Robert, 14.

Mark Talbot joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 23 September 1986 as a Firefighter at Market Drayton Fire Station, where he still serves. Mark lives in Market Drayton with his wife Alison and has 2 children, Kaitlyn aged 5 and Kai aged 3.

John Alan Wildblood joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on 9 July 1986 as a Firefighter at Church Stretton Fire Station. He was promoted to Leading Firefighter on 17 September 2002. He lives in Church Stretton with his wife Sarah and has 4 children, Aron 18, Charlotte 17, Cameron 5 and Nathan 4.

Citation
This award is given to someone who has made a substantial contribution to Society and who, through their actions has made a significant difference to the safety and well-being of those within the community in which they live or work. This individual through their outstanding efforts, loyalty, hard work and caring approach has made a very real difference to the well-being of others.

Sub Officer Roger Smith
Sub Officer Roger Smith joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service on
14 March 1967 and has served at Market Drayton Fire Station since that date. He has been the Sub Officer from 1983 until the present day.
Roger is diplomatic in all he does, and is firm when difficulties arise. He is a very able leader and has forged numerous links with the local community. He has been particularly proactive in taking forward fire safety initiatives in the community. He is enthusiastic in his job and commands a station staff that are well motivated.
It is with great pride that the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service wish to honour his service with this award. |

The Telent Charity Shield
Presented by Dave King of Telent
The Telent Charity Shield is presented to a person or persons who have made an outstanding contribution to charity. During the Spring/Summer
of 2006, a group of fire service personnel raised over £6,000 by doing a 1,000 mile, 3 day charity cycle run from John O'Groats to Lands End, benefiting the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, Hope House Children's Hospice and the local Macmillan Cancer Relief.
