Request detail: 

I request to be supplied with data on the causes of fires reported to Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service, including but not limited to those started by disposable BBQs, cigarette litter, broken/discarded glass bottles and sky lanterns. I request that this data is broken down at least by month, for the last 24 months.

If available, I also request information on the duration and damage caused by those fires and the cost incurred by your service.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. Please find the information requested in the attached spreadsheet.

With regard to cost Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has incurred we do not record this information, however an indicative cost can be calculated for each incident which is based upon the equivalent special services charges tariff for 2022/23: Special Services Charges 2022/23 | Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and 2021/22: Annual Review of Charges for Special Services 2021/22 | Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, which gives you the cost per hour for the type of vehicle that attended. This can be calculated using the number and type of vehicles in attendance and the length of time they were in attendance.   Please note that multiple assets in attendance are recorded as one asset per line item for the same incident.
