At 20:20 on Wednesday, 13 July, 2022, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Newport.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Newport and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Incident involved approximately 10 x 10 metres of grass and trees on fire. Crews used 1 hose reel jet and 1 high pressure lance.
