At 23:36 on Sunday, 29 August, 2021, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Field Of Straw in Newport .

2 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Beaters
• Hosereel jet

Fire involving approx 1 acre of cut straw crews used 1 hose reel jet beaters and 1 high pressure hose from ISU to extinguish
