At 19:43 on Friday, 12 April, 2024, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire.
7 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit, the Rescue Tender and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Craven Arms, Oswestry, Prees, Wellington and Wem. An Operations officer was in attendance.
Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:
- Hosereel jet
- Thermal imaging camera
Fire involving straw measuring 5m by 5m within a 60m by 70m barn, fire extinguished using 1 hose reel and 1 thermal imaging camera.

Fire in chimney breast of coal fire. Crews extinguished using a stirrup pump, buckets of water and chimney rods. A thermal imaging camera has been used to check the temperature within the chimney breast to ensure safe temperatures.

Fire in flat caused by air fryer. Crews used 1 hosereel jet and a covering jet to extinguish the fire and a positive pressure ventilation fan to assist in ventilating the property. 1 casualty assessed by ambulance crews.
