At 17:34 on Thursday, 31 March, 2022, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Shrewsbury.

6 fire appliances including the Aerial Ladder Platform, the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Minsterley, Oswestry and Shrewsbury. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Hosereel jet
  • Main jet

Fire involving 40 tonnes of woodchip in biomass boiler. Crews are using four breathing, 2 hose reel jets and 2 main jets to extinguish. Crews currently damping down rear of building. Assistance from Mid and West Wales Fire Service.

At 14:14 on Thursday, 31 March, 2022, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Oswestry.

5 fire appliances including the Water Carrier were mobilised from Ellesmere, Oswestry and Shrewsbury. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Hosereel jet
  • Thermal imaging camera

This incident involved 30 tonne of sawdust within a compound at the location. Extinguished by fire service personnel using 2 hosereel jets. 2 breathing apperatus and thermal imaging camera also used.

5 fire appliances including the Aerial Ladder Platform, the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury, Telford Central and Wellington. Operations, Hazmat and Safety officers were in attendance.

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

One agricultural building measuring approximately 50x30m fully involved in fire.

4 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit and the Rescue Tender were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Market Drayton, Shrewsbury and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

1 barn 30m x 10m fire was out on arrival of fire service personnel. Crews investigated using thermal imaging camera to inspect.

This incident involved a large amount of farm machinery and tyres which was extinguished by fire service personnel using two hose reel jets.

1 tractor fully involved in fire, within a grain store barn which was also affected. Crews from Montgomery and Welshpool also assisted.

At 12:33 on Saturday, 28 August, 2021, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Baschurch.

4 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit, the Water Carrier and the Welfare Unit were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Craven Arms, Hodnet, Newport and Shrewsbury. Operations, Fire Investigation and Principal officers were in attendance.

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Police.

Fire Crews from Shrewsbury and Hodnet were mobilised to a serious Barn fire in Baschurch, 12:33hrs (28/08/2021), supported by specialist resources from Bridgnorth, Craven Arms and Command Officers. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a person was declared deceased at the scene. Group Manager Lee Baker said: “We are working closely with West Mercia Police to determine the circumstances of the fire and what led to the tragic event. Our gratitude goes out to those that supported the emergency services and thoughts are with those affected at this difficult time."
