At 15:17 on Monday, 18 July, 2022, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Newport.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Wellington.

Reports of fire in the open which proved to be a hedge on fire measuring 10 metre by 10 metre. Fire crews used 1 hose reel jet and drag rakes.
