Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service offer work experience places to provide students with the opportunity to gain a valuable insight into the work of the Fire Brigade.
The placement will take place primarily at Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service, Headquarters, St Michaels Street, Shrewsbury, SY1 2HJ. However, it may also involve visiting other sites.
The programme will provide an experience of working within a modern fire and rescue service and will give an insight in to many key areas of Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, which includes: corporate services, ICT, community and business engagement to prevent and protect, along with an insight into operations and risk. Due to Health and Safety and insurance reasons, we do not offer work experience placements at Operational Fire Stations.
We offer 3 work experience placements throughout the year. Placements are accepted based on the application form and departmental availability on the dates required.
Students would be responsible for their own travel to and from their placement. You will not be required to travel on behalf of the Service. Any travel whilst on placement will be in a Brigade vehicle accommodated by a member of staff.
