Expenditure and Procurement
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is committed to transparency and accountability in the use of public funds. We publish information about expenditure, procurement and contractual arrangements in accordance with applicable transparency and procurement requirements.
Expenditure over £500
Information about individual items of expenditure over £500 is published as part of our financial transparency arrangements.
Published information includes relevant details about expenditure incurred by the Service.

Government Procurement Card Transactions
Information about transactions made using Government Procurement Cards is published as part of our financial transparency arrangements, where applicable.

Contracts Register
The SFRS Contracts Register provides information about contractual arrangements entered into by the Service.
The register supports transparency and provides information such as the supplier, contract description, contract value and relevant contract dates, where applicable.
The Contracts Register should be read alongside procurement and contract notices published through Find a Tender.
Tender Opportunities
SFRS publishes and manages procurement opportunities through appropriate external procurement platforms.

Procurement Act 2023 Transparency
SFRS publishes procurement and contract information in accordance with applicable requirements under the Procurement Act 2023 and associated regulations.
Certain statutory procurement notices, contract information and payment information are published through the central digital platform, where the relevant requirements apply. Information about payments of more than £30,000 including VAT under relevant public contracts is also subject to publication requirements under section 70 of the Procurement Act 2023.

Management and Staff
The Service has previously published information on trade union facility time in line with:
- The Trade Union (Facility Time Publication Requirements) Regulations 2017, and
- The Local Government Transparency Code 2015.
The statutory requirement to report and publish facility time data under the 2017 Regulations has now been removed as a result of changes to trade union legislation implemented in 2026.
The Local Government Transparency Code 2015 continues to reference facility time as a dataset for publication. However, this Code has not yet been updated to reflect the subsequent repeal of the underlying legislative provisions that previously mandated publication.
In light of this, the Service keeps its approach to publication under review. Where facility time information is not published, this reflects the removal of the statutory reporting requirement and a shift away from centrally mandated reporting.
Senior salaries
Details of senior employees earning above £50,000, including job titles and salary bands. These are contained within the Statement of Accounts published annually.

Gender Pay Gap Reporting
The Service publishes annual gender pay gap information showing the difference in average pay between male and female employees across the organisation. This is published in accordance with statutory requirements and includes a written statement signed by an appropriate senior person confirming that the information is accurate.
