At 19:00 on Monday, 8 August, 2022, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Newport.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Wellington.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Buckets of water
• Knapsacks

Fire involving under growth 20m x 20m that was out on arrival. Crews dampened down area using knapsack and buckets of water.
