At 08:36 on Wednesday, 26 March, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Car Fire in Wellington.

4 fire appliances were mobilised from Shrewsbury, Telford Central and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews were called to reports of a van smoking in the lay-by on the M54. This turned out to be a false alarm caused by a mechanical fault.
