At 07:51 on Sunday, 27 July, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Oswestry.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Ellesmere.

This was a small bonfire set by campers, fire service personnel gave advice to the people in attendance.

Build bonfires well clear of buildings and never use flammable liquids to start the fire. Before you light the bonfire, check that children and animals are not hiding inside and are a safe distance away. Don't leave bonfires unattended. Don't light bonfires in unsuitable weather conditions.
