At 21:10 on Wednesday, 30 July, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Shrewsbury .

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Shrewsbury and Wem. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Breathing Apparatus (BA)
• Hosereel jet
• Rakes, shovels, mathooks
• Thermal imaging camera

Fire in commercial skip containing 12 tonnes of newspapers. extinguished using 4 breathing apparatus', 2 hose reel jets, thermal imaging camera and drag rakes.
