At 16:22 on Wednesday, 20 August, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Gas Leak in Newport.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Wellington.

Also at the scene of the incident were: a utility company.

Report of a smell of gas within a property coming from the boiler area. Crews carried out multiple checks with gas monitor with all reading at normal levels. No gas leak found but crews isolated mains gas, electrics and kitchen appliances until Cadent Gas arrived to inspect the property.
