House Fire

At 14:14 on Sunday, 12 February, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire in Shrewsbury.
2 fire appliances were mobilised from Shrewsbury. An Operations officer was in attendance.
Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:
- Breathing Apparatus (BA)
- Hosereel jet
- Positive Pressure Ventilation
Smoke issuing from domestic property, crews investigating using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet - this incident was a small fire involving cooking left unattended on a gas hob, crews used positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke logging in the property

Most kitchen fires occur when people are distracted or leave things unattended.
- Never use a toaster under a shelf or kitchen cupboard - pull it out from under the cupboard when in use.
- Don't hang wet or damp tea towels on the cooker to dry.
- Dirty grill pans and ovens cause fires. Help keep them clean.
- When using a microwave read the cooking instructions carefully, ensure you don't put in any metal objects.
- Kettles can cause serious burns from the steam, make sure you don't lean over the kettle when it'.s boiling.
