At 12:55 on Sunday, 3 September, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Animal Rescue in Cumbers Bank, nr. Ellesmere.

2 fire appliances including the Rescue Tender were mobilised from Ellesmere and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Attending crews used the following equipment:

• Cutters/Spreaders
• Electric Saws/Cutters

Also at the scene of the incident were: a vet.

1 horse trapped by its front legs in a cattle grid. Crews have cut away the cattle grid and freed the animal which was then checked by a vet for any injuries.
