  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service , the Police and a utility company.

Crews were alerted to a property fire by a neighbour who heard the smoke alarms activating. On further investigation, he could see and smell smoke so he dialled 999. When crews arrived they carried out a thorough search of the property and found a small fire involving unattended cooking. There was no occupier in the property at the time but a dog was safely rescued by Fire Service Personnel. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and a covering jet at the incident.

Smoke alarms cost as little as £5 and are available at most DIY stores. It is recommended that smoke alarms should be fitted on the ceiling one per floor and they should be 30cm away from walls or light fittings (Usually top and bottom of stairs). Smoke alarms should be tested weekly by pressing the button to briefly activate the alarm. Change the battery once a year (unless it's a ten year alarm) and gently vacuum the alarm twice a year to remove dust from the sensors.
