At 07:17 on Friday, 26 October, 2018, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Persons Reported Fire in Telford.
3 fire appliances including the Aerial Ladder Platform were mobilised from Telford Central and Tweedale. Operations, Fire Investigation and Principal officers were in attendance.
Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.
Fire crews were called to reports of a property fire Park Lane, Woodside, Telford with persons unaccounted at 0715 hours Friday 26th October. Three appliances (Fire Engines) were mobilised to the incident from Telford and Tweedale. On arrival crews were confronted with a bungalow that was well alight. Breathing apparatus teams with hose reel jets were committed into the building to try and locate the 2 persons who were reported as missing by neighbours. Crews managed to locate and rescue a lady in her 80's before being forced to withdraw from the building as the roof collapsed. Crews were then re committed back into the building in the aftermath of the collapse to look for the remaining missing person. Following this additional search, crews found a body in the property which was pronounced as deceased at the scene. The fire has subsequently been brought under control with crews remaining on scene to damp down hot spots and to support Fire Investigation and Police Forensics. The early indications are that this fire is not suspicious however this is only a preliminary finding. SFRS wish to offer our deepest condolences to the family of those involved in this tragic incident. Community Fire Safety guidance and reassurance work will be carried out in the area throughout the weekend. We hope that the public are not alarmed by our presence and will engage with us so we can discuss their safety in the home.
