SFRS is committed to being an inclusive employer and having a diverse workforce brings many benefits to the Service. The Service has a Positive Action Statement which supports this.

Positive action is legal under the Equality Act 2010, and where SFRS can show that they are under-represented by particular groups in the last 12 months.  The taster sessions are being held for people from BAME (4%), LGBT+ (0.5%) backgrounds and Women (6.4%) as the Service is under-represented by these groups, figures in brackets are the percentages employed.  For more information on the Equality Act 2010 click here. Positive action is specifically covered in Section 158.

Attendance at a taster session does NOT guarantee any progression into the recruitment process which will take place later in the year.
