£1,400 Thank You From Crash Survivor

John Holden presents a cheque to Church Stretton fire station manager, Steve Paige, watched by firefighters.

Retired vicar Canon John Holden presents a cheque for £1,400 to the Church Stretton firefighters who cut him free from the mangled wreckage of his car after a head-on crash on the A49 near Dorrington earlier this year.

The 81 year-old recently completed a 50 mile sponsored cycle ride and he handed part of the proceeds - £1,400 – to the Fire Fighters’ Charity when he visited Church Stretton fire station recently.

“I wanted to do something to say thank you to the firefighters from Church Stretton, Shrewsbury and Wellington who cut me free. I shall always be grateful for the way they helped me on that terrible day,” Mr Holden said
