Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service join National Advertising Campaign to raise awareness among women about a career as a firefighter

The core campaign commences on 22 May with 'Women make great fire fighters' posters and leaflets displayed all over England in private health clubs, local authority leisure centres, Cinemas and selected local bars.

There is also a planned schedule of adverts during May, June and July in Company, New Woman, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, New, Star, How, More, Heat, OK, Grazia, Take a Break, Love it, Asian Bride, Asian Woman and Pride.

It is expected that Brigades will expand this campaign locally and there is a future plan to work with Connexions to target the 13 to 19 year old group.

The aims of the campaign are to:

Challenge negative gender stereotyping

Challenge perceived barriers

Provide motivational materials

Recruit more female fire fighters

We are currently recruiting Retained Fire Fighters in Shropshire specifically Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms, Hodnet and Much Wenlock.
