At 04:45 on Saturday, 27 May, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Shrewsbury.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Shrewsbury.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet
• Rakes, shovels, mathooks
• Thermal imaging camera

Small fire deeply embedded in wood chippings of play park. Fire extinguished using 1 hosereel jet, shovels and spades. Area checked for hotspots using thermal imaging camera.
