At 17:06 on Monday, 26 August, 2024, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Newport.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Newport and Wellington.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet
• Rakes, shovels, mathooks
• Thermal imaging camera

Approximately 10 meters of hedgerow alight. Crews used 2 hose reel jets, thermal imaging camera, log saw and drag rakes to extinguish
