At 09:47 on Thursday, 1 May, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as HGV Fire in Telford.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Telford Central and Tweedale. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet
• Thermal imaging camera

Fire in the rear of recycling waste lorry caused by discarded lithium iron battery. Extinguished using one hose reel jet.Contents of waste lorry tipped and checked with thermal imaging camera with no further fire spread found.
