At 03:42 on Tuesday, 1 October, 2019, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Water Rescue in English Bridge, Shrewsbury.
3 fire appliances including the Water Rescue Unit were mobilised from Shrewsbury and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.
Person threatening to jump into river, water rescue unit mobilised as a precaution, boat launched onto river but a rescue was not required. Incident left with Police.

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.
One male who jumped into the river was assisted to safety by Fire Service Swift Water Rescue Technicians (SRT's). Police and Ambulance were also in attendance,

Reports of upturned canoe in River Severn. No persons with canoe. Crews carried out a thorough search on foot, as well as searching the river using the rescue boat. Joint search with West Mercia Police.
