Type Persons Reported FireDetails “West Mercia Police and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service are currently conducting a joint investigation in relation to a house fire in Benthall, Broseley yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately an elderly male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are not treating the matter as suspicious at this time and enquiries are ongoing. SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting the fire, classified as Persons Reported Fire in Benthall, Broseley at 15:59 on Saturday, 14 January, 2017, 3 fire appliances were mobilised from Much Wenlock, Telford and Tweedale. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance. Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire: • Breathing Apparatus (BA) • Covering jet • Hosereel jet West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police were also in attendance. The fire occurred in a detached two storey dwelling and involved the ground floor. 6 crews wearing breathing apparatus were required, using 3 hose reel jets and 1 covering jet. Police and Fire Investigation Officers have been on scene today and investigations into the cause are likely to go on into next week. Firefighters from Telford and Tweedale have also been in Benthall, Broseley today, providing community safety advice to local residents.
