Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to take extra caution when using candles following a serious fire in Shrewsbury.

The Service was called at 12.40am this morning (Tuesday 19 October) to a flat fire on Albert Street. Crews from Baschurch, Wellington and Shrewsbury attended and rescued one male casualty from the blaze. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Work is due to begin on the renovation of Tweedale Fire Station in Telford next week. 

On Monday 11 October, Pave Aways Building Contractors will start improvement work on the Bridgnorth Road site. New features will include fitness facilities for the firefighters, improved security, staff accommodation and elements to reduce the environmental impact of the station.  

It is hoped that the investment will help support the welfare of the people who work in the station and aid them more

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is highlighting the importance of smoke alarms after attending a house fire today (Thursday 7 October) in Telford.

The Service was called at 12.28pm to a property in Shawbirch and two fire appliances attended. When crews arrived, the fire had already been put out by a neighbour who had heard the smoke alarm go off.

Theatre Severn hosted a long service and good conduct awards ceremony last night for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) staff who have achieved 20 or 30 years service.
