Shortly after 6pm last night fire crews attended a fire at the household waste recycling centre in Mile End Industrial Estate Oswestry.

The fire involved a large quantity of household rubbish inside the building andwas being supressed by a sprinkler system when fire crews arrived. The premises were severely smoke logged.

It took fire fighters working with staff from the occupiers ‘Veolia’ three hours to extinguish the fire.

Police in Telford are investigating after a car fire in Wellington.

The incident occurred near Saville Close in the early hours of Friday 10 August.

At 2.15am a member of the public called the police to report that a car was on fire in a car park just off the street. Police officers and the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service immediately attended the scene and the fire was extinguished successfully without it spreading to any other vehicles.

Police are appealing for information after a car was set alight deliberately as it was parked in a Telford street.

The incident happened at an address in Arleston Avenue, Arleston at around 12.25am today (Wednesday 8 August).

The vehicle had been parked on the road, outside the owner's property.
