Firefighter Emily Jane Harding is preparing for an epic challenge this summer.
To mark a milestone birthday, Emily will be pulling on her hiking boots to ramble along the 630-mile Southwest Coastal path.
This momentous challenge is set to begin on the 30 June in Minehead, Somerset and finish at South Haven Point in Dorset on around about the 7 September.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service reminds businesses of the importance of fire safety following a successful prosecution of a Telford business.
On 14th May 2025, a successful prosecution was concluded brought by SFRS against Mr. Rajinder Singh Pandher and Mr. Girish Bhagwat, director of the company owner and manager respectively, of what was the Eden Complex.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service was pleased to welcome Telford MP Shaun Davies, to the new Telford Central Fire Station on Friday 11 April.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has attended a serious property fire in Malinslee, Telford, this morning (Wednesday 16 April).
The Service was called at 12.31am and crews from Telford and Tweedale attended. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and rescued a man believed to be in his 60s from the property before putting the fire out with hose reel jets.
The crews administered care until the arrival of the Ambulance service who he was left in the care of.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has published its Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) 2025-28, which details what the Service will prioritise over the next few years and how SFRS will achieve its vision of 'Making Shropshire Safer'.
Consultation on the draft CRMP began on1 November 2024 and ran for eight weeks, allowing the public to have their say on the proposals.

The National Fire Chiefs Council has launched a survey to gather insights into public awareness and perceptions of careers and job opportunities within the UK Fire and Rescue Service.
The survey seeks to understand whether individuals have ever considered a career in the fire sector and their awareness of the departments/roles available.

His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) has published its report following an inspection of Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The inspectorate still focuses on three key topics; People, Efficiency and Effectiveness, however there are 11 areas which are graded.
There are now five possible grades: outstanding, good, adequate, requires improvement and inadequate.
