Hundreds of students will watch a car crash “victim” released from the wreckage of a vehicle by firefighters at a road safety education event tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov 15)

The stark demonstration in front of students aged 18 to 25 will be staged at Harper Adams University at 6.30pm by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

A Shropshire sportsman is all fired up ready to play rugby for England and hoping his team will return home with a win against Wales later this month after two previous defeats.

More women are wanted to train as on-call firefighters by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service which is holding another “taster day” just for women at Albrighton Fire Station on Saturday, November 12.

Women who live within five minutes of one of Shropshire’s 23 fire stations are invited to attend the session at Albrighton Fire Station from 9.30am to midday to see what life is like as a firefighter.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has been nominated for an award for its trailblazing work with employees with dyslexia.

The county fire service has been shortlisted for the Best Supportive Employer in the 2016 Dyslexia Awards – the first ceremony of its kind organised by a county dyslexic trainer to raise awareness about dyslexia.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has backed a call for sprinkler systems to be fitted in all care homes and other buildings occupied or used by vulnerable people.

Speaking in advance of a "sprinklers seminar" to be held at Shrewsbury Town FC's Sovereign Suite on Tuesday (Nov 1st), Andy Blizard, the fire service's Protection Manager, said that Shropshire FRS "fully supported" a national campaign aimed at promoting the fitting of sprinkler systems.

A team of volunteers have set off from Shropshire on another 1,800 mile road trip to donate much needed fire equipment and help vulnerable children and the elderly in rural parts of Romania.
