At 23:54 on Sunday, 6 July, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire in Market Drayton.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Hodnet and Market Drayton. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Dry powder extinguisher
  • Thermal imaging camera

This incident involved a small fire in a external meter cupboard which was out on arrival. Crews inspected the property inside and outside using electrical gloves, a thermal imaging camera and a dry powder extinguisher.

Fire In Open

Hopton Hill Nescliffe

Station ground: Baschurch

At 22:17 on Saturday, 5 July, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Nescliffe.

4 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Baschurch, Minsterley, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Telford. Operations and Safety officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Hosereel jet
  • Thermal imaging camera

Fire involving approximately 20x20m of woodland and undergrowth. Two main jets and one fogging lance plus thermal imaging camera have been in use. Incident believed to be caused by disposable bbq.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Shrewsbury and Wellington. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet
  • Positive Pressure Ventilation
  • Thermal imaging camera

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and a utility company.

One semi detached property, fire involving 100% of kitchen.

Fire In Open

Bromlow Minsterley

Station ground: Minsterley

At 17:36 on Thursday, 3 July, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Minsterley.

6 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit and the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Bishops Castle, Clun, Craven Arms, Ludlow and Shrewsbury. Operations, Safety and Specialist Advisor officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Hosereel jet
  • Main jet
  • Thermal imaging camera

Large incident involving 500 meters by 200 meters of grass and gorge alight. Crews have used main jets, hose reel jets and fogging units to extinguish and control the spread of fire. Crews also operated a drone to asses the scale and spread of fire. Crews have been checking areas for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Wellington.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Dry powder extinguisher
  • Hosereel jet
  • Thermal imaging camera

Crews found 1 small kitchen fire, crews used 1 x hosereel jet, dry power and thermal imaging camera to put the fire out.

Most kitchen fires occur when people are distracted or leave things unattended.

  • Never use a toaster under a shelf or kitchen cupboard - pull it out from under the cupboard when in use.
  • Don't hang wet or damp tea towels on the cooker to dry.
  • Dirty grill pans and ovens cause fires. Help keep them clean.
  • When using a microwave read the cooking instructions carefully, ensure you don't put in any metal objects.
  • Kettles can cause serious burns from the steam, make sure you don't lean over the kettle when it'.s boiling.
