At 11:52 on Wednesday, 17 January, 2018, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire Persons Reported in Oswestry.

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Ellesmere and Oswestry. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Hosereel jet
  • Positive Pressure Ventilation

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service .

Fire in 1st floor bedroom. All persons accounted for. Ventilation in progress. Two casualties in care of Ambulance Crews.

At 19:48 on Friday, 12 January, 2018, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire Persons Reported.

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Tweedale. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Hosereel jet

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

Small fire involving cooking 1 male casualty assisted from property first floor by fire service personel. Oxygen Therapy in use. 2 BA 1 Hose reel jet in use

At 08:20 on Sunday, 3 December, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire Persons Reported in Bridgnorth.

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Tweedale. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

At 08:20 hrs on Sunday 3rd December 2017 Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a neighbouring property reporting a house fire at Cricket Meadow, Bridgnorth and they believed the resident was inside the property. Three fire appliances were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Tweedale, along with an Operations Commander and Fire Investigation Officer. The first crew arrived at 08:26 and could hear smoke detectors operating. Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus entered the building and found that the fire had self extinguished, however tragically one person was found deceased within the property. A joint investigation with West Mercia Police is taking place, however, at this time the fire is not thought to be suspicious. Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service would urge any members of the public who have concerns regarding fire safety matters in their home to contact 01743 260200 for advice.

7 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit were mobilised from Shrewsbury, Telford Central, Tweedale and Wellington. Operations, Hazmat and Safety officers were in attendance.

  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet
  • Positive Pressure Ventilation

Fire involving commercial property with 1st and 2nd floor accommodation, fire on 1st floor. 6 breathing apparatus, 3 hose reel jets, 1 covering jet, PPV to clear smoke, 9m ladder to check external woodwork 1 person rescued by fire service personnel

4 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms and Ludlow. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet
  • Positive Pressure Ventilation

Fire involving living room of domestic property, all persons accounted for, one person suffering smoke inhalation and flash burns, four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one covering jet and positive pressure ventilation used.

Smoke alarms cost as little as £5 and are available at most DIY stores. It is recommended that smoke alarms should be fitted on the ceiling one per floor and they should be 30cm away from walls or light fittings (Usually top and bottom of stairs). Smoke alarms should be tested weekly by pressing the button to briefly activate the alarm. Change the battery once a year (unless it's a ten year alarm) and gently vacuum the alarm twice a year to remove dust from the sensors.
